Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (ATH) is Greece's busiest airport, facilitating international and domestic travel for close to 14 million passengers per year.

It is also a very modern facility, having only been open since 2001.

Travellers will find an excellent selection of amenities at both terminals including essential services as well as a large choice of eateries and shopping outlets. Essential financial services are also available at the airport.

The airport has an information desk situated in the Arrivals area of the Main Terminal. Staff at the desk are friendly and patient, and qualified to answer a large variety of queries. Meanwhile, the Greek National Tourist Organisation is also located in the Main Terminal and is available to answer queries relating to tourism, hotels and attractions and so on. Shops, Duty-Free and Retail Outlets


Duty-free shops carrying an extensive range of luxury products including perfume, tobacco, alcohol and accessories are available in the Main Terminal, beyond passport control. For duty-free shops, there is an extensive selection including popular names such as Swatch, Tie Rack, Accessorize, Esprit and Monsoon. The airport also has its own Retail Park, which is located one mile from the Main Terminal and houses big names such as IKEA.

Bars, Cafés and Restaurants


For dining, travellers will find a large selection of options including both traditional Greek eateries and popular fast-food franchises. Well known names at the airport include McDonalds and Café Ritazza, while the food village offers seven different areas, each providing a different selection of food. There are also coffee houses offering hot drinks and sandwiches in the Arrivals area.

Currency Exchange, Communications and Banking Facilities


There are two banks at the airport, the Commercial Bank and the Alpha Bank. Both banks provide a number of ATM's throughout the airport. Additionally, there is a post office offering regular services and a courier facility in the Arrivals area.

Business and Conference Facilities


For business travellers, the airport has both a media centre and a dedicated business centre. The media centre offers lounges for press conferences, Wi-Fi Internet connection and booths with fax, telephone, printing and photocopy facilities. The business centre provides a comprehensive range of dedicated business facilities.

Disabled Facilities


The airport is equipped with disabled facilities conforming to EU standards and regulations. Passengers with special needs will find special lifts, toilets and telephones as well as check-in counters specially designed to accommodate them.

Other Facilities


For young travellers, the airport offers the Children's Creative Entertainment Area, while those with an eye for aesthetics can check out the permanent exhibition of artwork by Eleftherios Venizelos, situated in the Main Terminal Building.
